Install the Ryujinx (Switch Emulator) AppImage on the Steam Deck

In this guide, you’ll learn how to install RyuJinx, a popular Nintendo Switch emulator, on your Steam Deck using an AppImage file. This method simplifies the process, making it easy to get RyuJinx running without complex setup. Given recent legal actions by Nintendo, including cease-and-desist orders sent to several emulator sites, accessing these emulators has become more difficult. It’s possible that they may become even harder to find over time, so if you’re interested in running RyuJinx on your Steam Deck, now is a great time to set it up while resources are still available.

Install RyuJinx 1.1.1403

  1. Download the Ryujinx AppImage here:
    https://github.com/Samueru-sama/Ryujinx-AppImage/releases/download/from-mirror/Ryujinx-1.1.1403-x86_64.AppImage

Save the file to your /home/deck directory.

  2. Open Konsole and enter in the following two commands from your /home/deck/ directory

    chmod +x Ryujinx-1.1.1403-x86_64.appimage
    ./Ryujinx-1.1.1403-x86_64.appimage install

  3. Now that Ryujinx is installed. Open up your Steam app, go to the Library tab.
Click on the Add a Game link at the bottom left and select “Add a Non-Steam Game…”
  4. Once the dialog box opens, select Browse and go to your Home in Places.
  5. Select the Ryujinx-1.1.1403-x86_64.appimage file and click “Add Selected Programs”

Now Ryujinx is available in your Steam app.
